I think that fashion on the runway is truly an art form. A lot of the time- to me at least- it looks un wearable, but this spring I found a lot of pieces from three different collections that I liked a lot. Some of the pieces I might even wear (or at least hang up in my closet to admire...) if I had the money to buy them (ha ha). Anyway, the first collection I liked was Prada's
Obviously this isn't the whole collection (I don't have the patience or time) but I though these pieces basically summed it up. Modern with classic elements, it's been done over and over and over again on the runway, but I thought Prada did a pretty good job of keeping it fresh. All the bead work and the netting the 2 pieces farthest to the right was certainly impressive. I could picture Lady Gaga putting on one of these pieces when she was feeling mellow or feeling like dressing "casually"
Anyway, this collection was more of the "put in the closet to look at and admire but never wear it in public" collection I was talking about. While I think it's vibe is cool and futuristic it would be hard to picture a "real person" walking around in some of the pieces (others are 'more mild').
[As a side now I think the classic neutral eye and bold lip corresponded well among classic with a twist]
Balenciaga's Spring collection I liked better than pradas, I have to admit. They're extremely artistic with an edge (Doesn't the makeup make you feel intimidated? Lots of neon orange cat eyes glaring at you...). Most of the pieces are extremely patterned and have lots of detail (different sized shoulder straps, gathering at the neckline, zippers etc). I think the pieces came off as chic and fun and with many different faces.
Tommy-Hilfiger is my favorite of my narrowed down three top choices. It was an easy pick, everything seemed very wearable, chic, glamorous and very, very pretty. There wasn't much eye grabbing detail, instead, to make the pieces stand out different fabrics in the same pale colors were used and everything seemed very 'together'. I could totally see some kind of glorified business woman buying the whole collection and wearing nothing but Hilfiger everywhere! I'm sure people would wonder how she had such a great sense of style...
That's all for tonight, I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'll take pictures of what I get!
